One of the benefits that the SPJST makes available to its members is a competitive scholarship program. The SPJST Scholarship/Grant Program is meant to encourage and assist members to further their education and to help them achieve career goals.
Donations to the SPJST Scholarship Fund are always welcome and appreciated.
SPJST General Scholarships - For All SPJST Members
SPJST General Scholarships were established in 1982 for all SPJST members. General Scholarships are funded by the Supreme Lodge and voluntary contributions by SPJST members. Accordingly, the more funds available, the more scholarships awarded.

Leadership Grants were established in 1996 for active youth club members and are funded solely through allocations by the Supreme Lodge.

Scholarship/Grant Applicant Information

Applicants must have an active SPJST insurance certificate in force for one year and hold an active SPJST insurance certificate for the duration of the scholarship or grant. SPJST scholarship recipients must enter college the fall term following the announcement of their award.
All SPJST scholarship/grant recipients must attend college or technical school on a full-time basis and carry a normal academic load without interruption and in agreement with the college calendar. Their personal and academic standards must remain satisfactory to the college and to the committee. Texas Fraternal Alliance Scholarship
Established in 1948, the purpose of the Fraternal Alliance Of Texas is to coordinate the statewide outreach efforts of Fraternal Benefit Societies in Texas in cooperation with the National Fraternal Alliance. The Fraternal Alliance Of Texas Scholarship Program is intended to recognize commitment to the fraternal ideal and to encourage and assist graduating seniors in furthering their education and helping them to achieve career goals. Two scholarships in the amount of $200 each will be awarded to graduating high school seniors belonging to the following fraternal benefit societies: Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas (KJZT), Catholic Life, Catholic Union of Texas (KJT), Grand Court Order of Calanthe, Knights of Columbus, Order of the Sons of Hermann, SPJST, Thrivent for Lutherans, Western Fraternal Life, Woodmen of the World. Scholarship recipients may only be awarded one scholarship from the Fraternal Alliance Of Texas. Scholarships will be presented at the Annual Convention in October.
Scholarship applicants must:
- Be classified as a high school graduating senior or equivalent at the time of application.
- Have an active fraternal life insurance certificate in force for at least one year prior to January 1, of the year in which the scholarship is being applied.
- Enter college in the fall term following the announcement of their award.
- Application: must be completed and signed.
- SAT/ACT Scores: All applicants must submit an official verification of SAT or ACT scores. These scores should be submitted along with a current official high school transcript.
- Applications must be received by March 1. Late applications will not be accepted. Send completed application and any attachments to:
