Kraslice is the Czech word for Easter egg. These hand-painted or decorated eggs are the most recognizable symbol of a traditional Czech Easter. Historically, girls decorated the eggs and gave them to the boys on Easter Monday.
There are countless techniques of decorating Easter eggs each requiring a certain level of skill and artistry. Many different materials are used, including bee wax, straw, water colors, onion peels and picture stickers. There are virtually no limitations in creating colorful Kraslice.
